Sandra Nakayenze, the visionary CEO and founder of Kalaamugosi Women Enterprise, is a symbol of passion, hard work, empowerment, and knowledge. Hailing from Mount Elgon’s foothills in Busiita Model Parish, her journey stems from a profound concern for the adversities faced by women in her community: child marriages, early pregnancy, gender bias, and financial limitations. Armed with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, she returned to her roots and realized the potent impact of Arabica Coffee in dismantling gender disparities and poverty.
At 22, Sandra co-founded Kalaamugosi Women Empowerment with four other resolute women, setting out to break the chains that had constrained local women. Collaborating with 2,000 coffee farmers, 32 lead farmers, and 2 agronomists, her commitment to training spans from good agricultural practices to coffee processing, with a special emphasis on empowering women.
With resolute determination, Sandra defied norms and emerged as a trailblazer in a male-dominated industry. Despite age-related challenges, she now leads one of Sironko District’s most thriving coffee enterprises. Her journey, defined by empowerment, knowledge, and unwavering dedication, resonates as an inspiring tale for all who encounter her extraordinary narrative.
